Mechanical Engineer ODT

Odfjell Drilling Technology (ODT) has 75 dedicated and QHSE-oriented resources serving the following areas: Platform maintenance, Drilling engineering services including EPCI, MODU and fixed installations, New build projects, Yard stays, Technology projects & improvement processes.

Within our business unit Odfjell Drilling Technology we are looking for a mechanical engineer at our office in Bergen. We are looking for an experienced “can do” candidate that is motivated by challenges in a hectic working environment.

Work tasks:

  • Study and project execution within drilling facilities both on Mobile Offshore Units and fixed platforms
  • Design specification
  • Technical Lead in multidiscipline projects
  • Technical specifications for purchase
  • Technical input to tender
  • Weight- and cost estimate
  • Package management/responsibility
  • Engineering Work Packages
  • Perform surveys, onshore  and offshore
  • Supplier and Work shop following up, inc. FAT
  • Installation and commissioning support


Formal qualifications:

  • Technical, Bachelor or Master degree within engineering with minimum 5 years’ experience

Experience/ Knowledge

  • Experience with Mobile Offshore Units and fixed platforms
  • Experience with Yard stays and supplier follow up is preferred
  • Offshore drilling and rotating equipment
  • Experience with Drilling operations
  • Mechanical calculations
  • Hydraulic and electromechanical systems
  • Experience from other relevant disciplines such as process, automation or piping/fluid
  • Petroleum industry standards, rules and regulations such as Norsok, DNV and ASME
  • Experience with Equinor projects is preferred
  • Knowledge in Equinor engineering systems such as SAP, STID, APOS, Procosys and others
  • Certificate as skilled craftsman is preferred
