Motorman (Mechanical)

A vacancy has arisen for the position of Motorman for the platform drilling side of our business.  The successful candidate will work on the UKCS.

Assist the Rig Mechanic with the operational integrity, safety and the cost effective running of all drilling equipment. This includes various preventive maintenance, repair, installation and removal, monitoring of diesel engine and support systems associated with the engine room operations, and other mechanical systems about the drilling unit as directed. The ultimate objective of this position is to assist in ensuring that all mechanical systems remain operative throughout the operation and comply with safety, regulatory body and test standards.  All role holders will demonstrate safe working practices in line with Company policies, procedures, training and legal requirements. Personnel will ensure their own safety at all times and will assist in ensuring the safety of others by participating fully in the Company and Client Safety Management System.

Key Duties 

  • Maintain systems and equipment in area of responsibility in compliance with Company Preventive Maintenance Program and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains housekeeping in area of responsibility to clean and safe standards.
  • Stand Engine Room watch and conduct routine inspection of machinery.
  • Maintain approved level of spare parts inventory to ensure equipment operation and to minimise down time.
  • Repair systems, equipment and components in assigned Engine room and support areas as directed by supervisor.
  • Must have operational knowledge and skills to perform assigned essential functions including but not limited to:
  • Starting, stopping and monitoring operation of Drilling diesel engines, pumps, compressors and auxiliary support equipment.
  • Replacing dirty lube oils with clean lube oils in various rotating mechanical equipment.
  • Reading and monitoring all equipment gauges and recording temperatures and operating hours, maintaining engine log.
  • Maintaining oil systems, air systems, water systems, and fuel systems.
  • Maintaining hydraulic and lubrication systems.
  • Maintain Company reporting system as required to include:
    • Record log readings obtained on inspection records.
    • Machinery history on repairs and maintenance performed.
    • Daily running checks
    • Participate in CMMS (maximo)

 Who we are looking for:                                 

  • Must have the right to work in the UK
  • Must be fully qualified mechanic through an apprenticeship or SVQ type scheme.
  • Must have previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience working with CAT 399’s would be advantageous
  • Must successfully pass pre-placement medical examination.
  • Successfully demonstrate physical ability to perform essential job functions safely.
  • Must be able to comply with Company rules.
  • Must successfully satisfy all applicable national regulatory body and client training certification.
